132. 30 Day Challenge (Day 4)

I've decided to attempt a 30 day writing challenge. The way it works is 30 words are provided, and you have to write something involving the word. It can be a drabble or a full story, length doesn't matter! For my reference, here are the words:

beginning. accusation. restless. snowflake. haze. flame. formal. companion. move. silver. prepared. knowledge. denial. wind. order. thanks. look. summer. transformation. tremble. sunset. mad. thousand. outside. winter. diamond. letters. promise. simple. future.

Each day I'll cross out whatever word I've chosen to keep track. These won't be edited or proofread so please forgive the mess!

All of these will be from The Arcanus Series.

The only time I won't be posting these is when there's a special guest. Until then, enjoy!

Note: In case you missed it yesterday, day 3 was posted on my website.

Promise

"You can't tell him." Vari holds Maria's head in his hands as he keeps her pressed against the wall. His lips are crushing against hers, hot and urgent. A plea is pressed against her skin as his kisses trail over her cheeks and down her neck, his thumbs rubbing small circles. "Please." He begs, raising his head and gaze into her eyes. Violet crashes with gold, a battle of wills rages between them. "Don't tell Rori. It'll crush him. Promise me, Maria."

His fingers slide down, trailing over the rough lacy fabric of her wedding dress. Their bodies are mere inches apart, the heat of his body seeping through, the soft scent of soap and natural musk making her head swim. She wants to fight him, knows deep down making such a promise would only make the situation worse. Action needed to be taken, a crime could not go unpunished…but she could not deny Vari, not when she owed him so much.

He had never asked her for anything. She had forced him to give everything. For Rori, for all three of them. For a future she could see but never defeat. This once, she could give in to his request.

"Alright." She pulls him in for another kiss, trembling as he pulls her roughly against his body, his desire hot against her thigh. Maria rolls her hips with a silent promise. Tonight. When they part the silence of the room is pierced from their heavy breathing and she lets out a soft moan as he leans forward to trail his tongue along her throat. "But only under the condition that you don't face him alone when the time comes. Kaden has gone too far, Vari. Don't think I'll let this stand, either. He'll pay for what he's done."

"Together." Vari promises and reluctantly pulls back and away, straightening his pants so as to appear somewhat presentable. Maria also adjusts herself, hoping her flushed cheeks will be chalked up to excitement over her big day.

Both turn as the door opens to the tiny room, and Rori emerges. His eyes scan over their flushed faces, the slightly rumpled clothes. He closes the distance, using his superior height over Vari to lean forward and adjust his tie. "You two could at least wait until after the wedding." He remarks, tightening the tie enough to pull Vari in for a light peck. "The guests are growing worried, and if they find out I've seen the bride before it's time, I'll never hear the end of it." A small smirk touches the corner of his mouth and he reaches down to pat Vari's crotch. "Need some help taking care of that?"

"Later!" Vari hisses with embarrassment, swatting Rori's hand away. "Let's go. Maria, take the other door to the side so no one gets suspicious."

She moves to leave, but Rori catches her arm, pulling her close as he slides their lips together in a short, but heated kiss. His fingers brush along her cheek as he pulls away, his gaze intense and bright with love and adoration. "I love you." He says and his eyes cut to Vari, implying his words encompass them both. "And you look beautiful. I'm so happy to have you both in my life."

As they go their separate ways, Maria and Vari exchange worried glances. Their love for Rori led to their desire to protect him, to ensure he never suffered the pain of his childhood. Kaden vil Larchs threatened everything they had worked hard for, could single handedly destroy years of work into building up Rori's self-esteem and self-worth with his obsession for Vari. Neither of them will allow such a thing.

If Kaden crosses the line again, they will not hesitate to end him.
